In early February, I spoke about having bought a website to try my luck at domain flipping. The website has made me a bit of money thru AdSense but not enough to phone home about it. The traffic has grown organically with most of my visitors coming from search engines. I hadn’t put much thought into how I would improve the website in order to flip it for a profit but finally those gears are starting to grind.

Seeing the resulting traffic from search engines and knowing that this website was a turnkey that is not unique, I looked at other websites that are the sames source code to see what advantage I could embrace over competing websites. It would appear that most have done some tweaks to content and nothing to very non-validating code. The primary reason for it - there’s no DOCTYPE declared!

I have been working on changing this website to be CSS-based layout rather then a very poorly marked up table-based layout. Still being fairly new at CSS-based designs, it’s posing challenges in getting the design to look exactly the same as the table-based layout.

The initial template had links to Amazon, Google AdSense, and some downloadable PDFs. I have changed all of those to being offers thru COPEAC and may add some back once I decide what to do about the design. I’m about halfway thru updating and validating the HTML. The reason I’m doing this is in hopes that if the Search Engines are able to more easily read my websites, I should rank higher due to the increase in accessibility to the site. I have been wanting to include more content on the website but haven’t decided whether to hire out, write something unique, or find some freebie content.

Goals:

Increase Search Engine Ranking
Increase from PR1 to PR3
Validating Strict XHTML/CSS code
$16.17/month revenue to make 100% profit by selling for at least $194USD
Get some incoming links
