famfamfam icons are “free” to use

Ever wanted some nice looking icons to add to your website but not graphically inclined? I came across famfamfam a few years ago and have been using their icons ever since. They released under the Creative Commons Attribution 2.5 License.
I don’t know if I’ve mentioned much on this bog that I’m a PHP developer. I look forward to getting some of my php applications into the pubic eye so I can send famfamfam an email to show them I’ve used their icons. Most of the php applications I’ve written thus far, are sitting on my development server either for my eyes only, or in the works to be released to the public.

What would you use these on?
I use them a lot in the PHP applications I write – I don’t think there’s one I have written that hasn’t used them. I’m a php developer and not so much a graphic artist so they come in very handy for me.
I’ve seen them sparingly in WordPress themes. Right now I can see them being used in my FireFox/Flock plugins (Web Developer and StumbleUpon) and I’ve seen them in various applications that I’ve used.
Once you’ve used them and are aware of what is within the sets, you’ll start to recognize them more in websites you go to or applications you use. To answer your question, you can use them anywhere!
OK so not being a developer myself, I may not have a use for them? Sorry if these are dumb questions…
I would say anyone who doesn’t have the time or ability to create the icons themselves can use them – developers, designers, webmasters or even complete “noobs” – really, whoever says “This could sure use a shopping cart icon right here” but doesn’t have the time or ability to create the icon themselves. If the icon is already created, all that’s left is knowing how to place it within a webpage, another image or even say, a Word document.
Not a dumb question at all Dennis – especially if you have never had use for them before or known they existed. In the future you might have a project you’re working on and decide, “hey, I could really use one of those icons jake was recommending right now!” If/when you do, feel free to let us know how they were of use to you!
