Today I am attending the premier Vancouver Joomla! DocCamp with other folks who are also either interested in learning more about Joomla! or are already using the Content Management System. The goal of the day is to help generate documentation on the upcoming release of Joomla! 1.5.
I myself have not used Joomla! very extensively let alone much in the last year since embracing WordPress. Because of the raves on Joomla! 1.5 coming from folks over at Tazzu, I felt coming here today was a great introduction back into the Joomla! Content Management System. Not to mention a good time to meet some of the folks on Tazzu.
Technology is great when it works. Today I brought the old laptop down hoping I could use my VMWare Ubuntu Web Server but apparently this laptop has a CPU that is too old for the newest VMWare Player. Instead, I am installing Joomla! 1.5 RC4 onto an empty domain so that I can start playing around with it. Whilst waiting eons for it to download and then upload, I poked around the Administration panel of another Joomla! install to get myself back up to speed with how it worked.
Now that I have a copy I can work with, I am going to go poke around at the code and see what I can do. Wish me luck!
