Project Updates

Lately I’ve been looking into developing a couple of niche websites and using them as research projects. I'm hoping this is something that might get me more motivated in writing content. I don't have a lot of faith in ever making much of any money online although the pro's say to stop thinking and just do it and the results will eventually come. Only time will tell.

Research Project for Niche Site: steaming-coffee.com

I’ve started working on a domain I registered almost a year ago now which has thankfully been picked up in Google already. I think I’ve finally found the key to unlock the door to making money thru PPC advertising within niche markets. There really are a lot of tools out there to accomplish this, you just have to use them. Really, it boils down to doing your research, just like any other business venture you take on. It does not surprise me with Internet businesses how much you have to treat it like an offline business in using due diligence before taking on a project yet so many webpreneurs either ignore or are unaware of how to run a business.

I Like CakePHP - I Like to Eat CakePHP Too!

Learning Advanced Programming Topics:

Lately I have been getting into the more advanced programming topics including code refactoring, frameworks, design patterns, and the major one posted about previously, OOP. I have always known about them, dabbled in them, known the pros/cons, read articles/blogs/forums, but never really delved into and embraced them. I have always felt them to be overkill for the simple data-driven web applications I have written in the past. But now I have come to a point where I need to be able to more rapidly deploy projects/ideas, and be able to maintain a suite of content-based websites from one interface. I want one source for my codebase to drive multiple web-based projects. I want to easily update my database schema’s. The more projects or ideas I come up with, the more complex my underlying infrastructure is looking.
